The Summer School in Classics (Academia Classica) was organized by the Societas Russica Magistrorum Linguarum Classicarum. The School was held for the first time on the 1st -9th August 2009 in the school buildings of a small village, Rozhdestvo (vicus Nativitatis), which is situated halfway between Saint-Petersburg and Moscow.

The main idea of the School is to promote Latin and Ancient Greek and to support the Classical education in Russia. This School was organized with the help of the Russian Foundation for Support of Education and Science.

34 pupils, 13-17 years old, from large and small Russian cities and towns, took part in the School. They were either winners of the Annual National Competition in Latin or successful in studying Latin and Ancient Greek. The participants had to attend 24 lectures and could choose between 29 seminarsin different fields of Classics, such as Ancient history, Ancient science, theatre, literature, cartography, vase painting, everyday life, all given by lecturers from the universities of Saint-Petersburg and Moscow. Extracurricular activities included staging a Latin play, cooking a Roman feast, making clay tablets and writing Linear B, and playing Ancient games.
